Operation with telephone

General

The operating sequences described in the following apply to a connected telephone. In order to perform all the functions as simply and conveniently as possible, it is advisable to use a telephone with tone signaling (DTMF) and a signal key (PBX recall button). When dialing you should avoid lengthy pauses between digits, otherwise you may be timed out by the system.

Since the Gigaset 1000TAE is administered by your Gigaset telephone system in the same way as a mobile handset, note carefully the possible settings of your Gigaset telephone system in relation to the base station.

For the possible settings of your telephone (e.g. volume of tone ringing, number redial, etc.) please refer to the operating instructions for the telephone used.

External dialing (to the public switched telephone network)

Once the cordless socket Gigaset 1000TAE and the base station of your Gigaset 1000 telephone system have been put into operation, you can operate a connected telephone.

The telephone is in the inoperative state

Lift handset

Lift the handset
You hear internal dial tone

Digit keys

Enter digit 0 to seize the trunk
You hear exchange dial tone

In the case of base stations without automatic line seizure, a further digit (0 or 1) must be dialed. If the disable function is active at the base station, you hear 4 negative acknowledgement tones.

Digit keys

Enter the external number
You hear external ringing tone (or busy tone). The other party answers the call. You conduct the external call ...

Replace handset

Replace the handset to terminate the call

Info

For the barred code check at the base station to function, the intervals between the dialed digits of the external telephone number must not exceed a certain time limit, otherwise the dialling process is terminated by Gigaset 1000TAE.

Maximum permissible interval between 2 digits:

   4.5

secs. in the case of tone signaling (DTMF) telephones (can be extended a further 4.5 secs. by pressing the PBX recall button)

   12

secs. in the case of dial pulsing telephones

If the line has already been seized by other users, you hear internal busy tone.

Internal dialing (to an inside user)

The telephone is in the inoperative state

Digit keys

Enter digit 9

Digit keys

Enter the internal number (0-9)

If you wish to call all internal users at the same time (group call), instead of an internal number you can press the star key after digit 9 (this is only possible with telephones which have tone signaling).

Replace handset

Replace the handset to terminate the call

Paging call (to all internal users)

Taking / terminating a call

An incoming call (external or internal) is signaled by the tone ringing of the connected telephone.

To take a call

Lift handset

To terminate a call

Replace handset

Temporary changeover of pulse dialing telephones to tone dialing

If you have a pulse dialing telephone, you can switch it over to tone dialing (DTMF) in the course of a call, e.g. in order to communicate with an answering machine.

Lift handset

You have set up an external call and want to switch over to tone signaling

Digit keys

Enter digit 7 after a connection period of 12 seconds; interrogate the answering machine ...

Replace handset

Replace the handset to terminate the call and the tone dialing function

Info

Telephones which are programmed for tone dialing do not require this changeover facility.
Temporary switchover to tone dialing is only possible during a call in progress.
The tone dialing function is deactivated automatically at the end of the call.

Using the base station features

The features of the base station can also be used with the Gigaset 1000TAE. The most features are possible with a telephone with tone dialing (DTMF) and a PBX recall button. If the tone dialing telephone does not have a PBX recall button, this function can be simulated by flashing the hookswitch.

The following features, for example, can be used, depending on the base station and the method of dialling:

  • call pickup
  • call hold
  • toggling (alternating)
  • consultation hold
  • three-way conference

The following digits can be used to simulate base station features (comparable with using the Gigaset 1000S standard mobile handset). For a description of the individual features please refer to the relevant base station operating instructions.

Digit on phone:

Equivalent procedure:

4

SET key Signal key (SET key + signal key)

5

SET key # key (SET key + square key) or SET key (SET key)

6

Pause during dialing

7

Activating tone signaling

8

 Signal key (signal key simulation)

9

INT (internal key)

These procedures can be activated after pressing the signal key during a call to the base station (digit 0) using the digits described.

In the case of pulse dialing telephones, the signal key is replaced by a 12-second waiting period. It is thus possible that fewer features of the base station can be used than in the case of telephones with tone dialing.
